Every year for the past fifteen years, the Environmental Science Institute at UT Austin hosts a series of extraordinary talks by researchers and scientists who are leaders in their field. It’s called Hot Science – Cool Talks. Free to the public and often drawing crowds of well over 500 people, lecture topics range from exploring habitats, the future of 3D printing, environmental sustainability, to drone R&D. With the addition of pre-lecture activities that are on theme with the speaker’s presentation, the evening makes for a wonderful outing on a (usually) Friday evening for the entire family.
When I started working with ESI, they had completed around 66 talks. We just hit number 98 with no sign of slowing down. So ESI decided it was time to take the series to the iTunes U-niverse. I am happy to announce that Hot Science Cool Talks is now on iTunes U as a FREE podcast! Subscribe for some of the latest research by scientists from UT Austin and around the country. If you are in Austin, you can catch the next talk on December 4th, 2015 in Welch Hall (2.246) on the UT Campus; the pre-lecture fair begins at 5:45pm/talk starts at 7pm.
